Eight-thirty to Five

This is a busy time of the year for the radio station. Even for little ol' interns like me! Because I am the promotions intern for the station, that obviously means that I will be helping with promotion!

Since this is my first full week at the station, I will be fully involved in everything going on a day to day basis. The beginning of the week I started in on promotions that are important for the summer and fall events here at the station. I am incharge of updating the Branson,MO attractions contact list. Once I completed half of the updates, later in the week, I printed out trade request letters to mail directly to the marketing managers of these businesses. If these requests go through to the department and get approved to go forward with business, this will provide the station with giveaways, listener promotional incentives, and other great uses. Another task that I completed everyday of the week was updating the obituaries on the internet of the morning and afternoon. Next week begins our Father's Day promotion and I had the duty of putting together the boxes required to accomplish this radio promotions.

This week was the end of the month so Wednesday, was spent doing the monthly billing/statements and being on hand to help during this hectic period of the month. Throughout the week, I spent sometime in the morning learning, watching, and helping with the Community Announcements and the Sunrise Reporter.

Here pretty soon I will start on one of my main jobs for the summer, which is preparing for the annual auction put on by the radio station. After this busy week, I am happy for the holiday weekend to go back home and see family! That way I am up and ready to go again on Tuesday!
